Hi karens I'm in the same boat - I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on an old G5 (intel based). I found the links below, which seemed to indicate that there were lots of older versions to choose from.

However, I had a problem (mods, I hope that this doesn't constitute a thread hijack - if you feel it does, please split this off to a new thread) in that I had unthinkingly already downloaded the current version of Chrome and installed it. Although I removed it from my applications folder and made sure that I downloaded (and was installing) the correct version (I tried both Google Chrome 22.0.1229.91 (Beta) and then Google Chrome 20.0.1132.47 I kept getting a message telling me that the version I had installed was not compatible with my architecture. (And I can confirm that the.app file I have in my Applications folder is 20.0.1132.47). Is there something more that needs to be done in terms of uninstalling the newer version before the older one (which should be compatible with our OS version) can run?
User who use a lot of tabs will notice that the memory usage is just skyrocketing, the 'Google Chrome Helper' processes are just piling up and never reduce their footprint even after closing lots of tabs and or windows. I call this a major memory leak. The activity of the Google Software Update Daemon borders on malware characteristics. How many outgoing connections this things wants to establish is just beyond anything remotely reasonable.
I wonder what this software is actually transmitting so feverishly. When restarting Chrome it automatically loads all previously opened tabs instead of incrementally as you click on them as Firefox does - which is way smarter.
